Fuller's London Pride
In a side road off the High Road, this pub is very much alive and busy as a good community local. This two bar pub is on the CAMRA National Inventory of historic interiors and is a good example of a "Brewer's Tudor" style pub as you will find anywhere. The interior is still as it was in 1927 apart from one screen removed. See it reviewed in the latest London's Heritage Pubs book. On a May visit, the London Pride was good and the staff and the locals were very friendly. It manages to feel cosy, despite its size.

Only open pre kick-off on match days
No real ale
In 2005, the old Northumberland Arms underwent a major £150k image change that transformed it from a traditional Victorian boozer that struggled to cope with the match day hordes to a trendy Spurs themed bar that still struggles to cope with the matchday hordes. The Spurs connections with the pub are more intrinsic than a brush of paint – the pub was originally where the players changed in the days of taped crossbars and pipe smoking goalkeepers and the pub is now owned and operated by Spurs and is only open on match days

An excellent local also keen on sport (this is Tottenham after all). A former Wetherspoon's pub, which has kept their low prices (less than 2 pounds a pint on the date of this report). The bar is well laid out so it feels more intimate than it should with its size.

Cask beer from the above changing range. On the banks of the Low Maynard reservoir, part of the Lee Valley Reservoir Chain, this tranquil spot consists of wooded islands and marshes, and is a magnet for bird watchers. Existing for over 100 years, its location has made it popular with locals, travellers to London and even holidaymakers. In 1877, over 12,000 holidaymakers arrived at the nearby Bruce Grove Station with droves descending onto the Ferry Boat to dance in the gardens, which from time to time sported a brass band. Food served all day Mon to Sat until 22.00, Sunday to 21.30pm.

Still not using its handpumps. Despite that, it is worth popping in here to look at the architecture. Now fully opened out, it is possible to see where some of the former divisions were. Along the right hand wall is tiling probably from a former corridor leading through to a private room at the back. Here, the fireplace is still complete. The original ceiling moudlings are intact as well. A pleasant pub indeed, even better if they had real ale.

Sad demise of a once reliable source. Formerly a quaint two bar, Victorian, cottage style pub. Now an overly bright, hideous, knocked through TV dominated ‘lounge’, that looks like a ‘Neighbours’ set.

If leaving the Beehive, follow the cycle route to Tottenham Hale station and you will pass the Volunteer. Somewhat hidden from the major streets in the area, but a busy local pub with an emphasis on sport, aside from the 2 massive televisions that dominate the front of the pub, there are a number of trophies above the bar, mostly for darts. There is a nice beer garden at the front.
