John Baird makes it a first
|
The John Baird, Fortis Green Road, N10, has made it into CAMRA's (Campaign for Real Ale) Good Beer Guide for the first time. The pub was shortlisted from many hundreds of pubs in the North London area to become one of only 4500 pubs across the UK to be in the 2010 Guide. Keith Nicholas, the manager of the John Baird "We are delighted to have made it into the Good Beer Guide for 2010. It is a great honour for us and we look forward to growing our reputation for great real ale in a friendly, traditional local pub" John Cryne, the local branch chairman added "It's always difficult to choose which pubs should go in the Guide. Throughout the year our members check hundreds of pubs incognito to find those that are selling the most consistent pint of good real ale. We are delighted that the John Baird has made it into the 2010 Good Beer Guide. It has shown a continual commitment to quality real ale and is an excellent example of a community pub of the type we have lost too many of over this last couple of years". The John Baird was refurbished in mid 2007 to give a light, warm atmosphere, with comfortable seating. There is a large outside smoking / drinking area. The pub was named after the famous television pioneer: John Logie Baird; the first television broadcasts were made from nearby Alexandra Palace. The pub will be given their 2010 Good Beer Guide window sticker at 8pm on Tuesday 15th September where a few pints will be lifted in celebration.
