Junction finally makes it
|
After being a regular entry into CAMRA's (Campaign for Real Ale) Good Beer Guide and being voted CAMRA North London's Winter 2005 Pub of the Season, the Junction Tavern in NW5 has finally been voted CAMRA's North London Branch Pub of the Year. Up against hundreds of other pubs, the Junction won due to its commitment to serving excellent beer and offering a friendly welcome to all comers in an area not awash with pubs selling real ale. John Cryne, the chair of the North London CAMRA branch said "The Junction Tavern appears from the outside an almost identikit gastro but don't be deceived. The rear of the pub boasts two connected drinking areas, a conservatory and a beer garden, with wood paneling and very large mirrors. This pub is a really good example of combining real ale with gastropub overtones, welcoming eaters and drinkers alike. It takes pride in the quality of what it gives the customer". There is no doubt that the Junction is committed to its beer, selling Caledonian Deuchars IPA as its house beer and a number of guests, usually from regional, independent brewers. It also hosts twice-yearly beer festivals (using SIBA breweries). The award will be presented to the Junction Tavern at 7.30pm on Tuesday 27th May and a pint or two will be supped in celebration. |
