The Fifth CAMRA and Wenlock Beer & Cider Festival goes north for family reasons
|
At 6pm on Friday 26th October 2007 the doors will open on the fifth beer and cider festival run jointly by North London Branch of CAMRA and the Wenlock Arms in N1. And this year the event has a family feel. Steve Barnes, from the Wenlock said "Picking which beers to have is always problematical as there are thousands of good real ales to choose from. This year we decided to let our young barman, Tom Unwin, make the decision and he has come up with a South Yorkshire theme. Tom's dad, Trevor, was a founder of the local CAMRA branch and so it's great that we are really keeping it in the family!" The reason for the choice is that Tom studied in Sheffield, which is in South Yorkshire so his knowledge is first hand. John Cryne, the chair of North London branch of CAMRA added "CAMRA is for all people of all ages and backgrounds and getting one of our younger drinkers to choose the beers reflects this. This festival gives a chance for everyone to come and try a few distinctive beers in a pub that is regularly in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide. And as October is CAMRA's Cider month, there will be a range of ciders and perries on sale as well alongside the beers, which will give people a chance to try something different. The Wenlock was the joint winner of London CAMRA's Cider Pub of the Year, which was awarded earlier this month so we couldn't be picking a better pub to hold this Festival". And, of course, the famous doorstep sandwiches will also be available. For further details contact: Extra Facts
