22 and Going Strong!
by Ian McLaren
We held the London Drinker Festival for the 22nd successful time in March.
Customers queued to get in, and marvelled at the range of beers when they
tried them - no fewer than 51 of the 75 ales on offer were nominated as beer
of the festival. Cider and food both sold out shortly before closing time on
Friday, but there was a good range of British and foreign beers available
through the three days.
My thanks must go to all the 120 volunteers that made the festival possible,
especially the managers who worked all the week to keep the customers supplied
and the other staff happy. Volunteers to work next year, please contact the
staffing officer, Ian.McLaren@blueyonder.co.uk - new blood and strong backs
are always welcome!
Our thanks must also go to our trade supporters, notably Charles Wells, Fullers
and Budweiser UK, and to the management of the Camden Centre.
The cider of the festival was Jean Nowell Rum Barrel, while the beer of the
festival was Dark Star Hophead.
Ian McLaren, for the Festival Committee.
