London Drinker Festival, March 2002

Another successful year for the London Drinker Beer Festival was celebrated by the Foreign Beer staff (Managers John Conen, left, and Keith Mapstone, pictured above) with a range of Italian beers - a first for the Festival.
The highly popular Festival food (one of the few CAMRA festivals to run its own catering service) had an excellent year. Food Manager Peter Beasley writes:
'1621 customers chomped their way through over 800 kilos of meat and veg, including 1302 sausages, 1041 portions of Mash and Beans, 550 Cornish Pasties, Onion Bhajis and Samosas, 347 Cheese or Beef Baps and 323 portions of home-made dishes including Pork and Pears in Beer Sauce and Broccoli, Blue Cheese and Pecan Nut Bake.
The Camden Centre ovens bulged with the demand, the kitchen staff worked tirelessly, coping with a temperature peak of 41 degrees Celsius on Thursday evening and the till broke down. But overall, the food operation was probably one of the smoothest ever seen at the London Drinker Festival.'
