The Thoughts of Chairman Mick

Pubmaster's hostile bid for Wolverhampton and Dudley seems to be dragging on and on.  As I write this, they have just extended their deadline until 26 July, with only less than 10% of shareholders having accepted their bid.

Chairman Mick

The foundation stone for Bateman's new brewhouse has been laid.  You can buy a brick in the building with your name engraved on it.  It seems that the cost includes lunch with the directors and a discount at their visitors' centre.

Stella's "Returning Hero" ad has been judged the world's best television ad for alcohol at the Cannes International Advertising Festival.  Good to know that some thought goes into one aspect of the company.  How about the lager next?

Zero Degrees - London's newest brewery (?) - from Blackheath, has won the Champion London Ale award with its Pale Ale.  This was at the Society of Independent Brewers London Brewers Competition. Anyone tried it?

A recent report has found that men and women who drink regular, moderate amounts of beer, have more active sex lives than both drunks and abstainers.  The ideal quantity is apparently two pints for men and one for women.  So now you know!

And finally, for those who enjoy the English and Welsh seaside, I can inform you that Wetherspoon's now have a pub in all but 19 of our resorts that have piers! What does it all mean?  Answers on a Leyton Orient stick of rock, please.
