The Thoughts of Chairman Mick
by Mick Lewis, Chair of the North London Branch
Welcome to the first edition of 'The Full Pint'
For the last 28 years CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale) has been the sole voice
that speaks for both the real ale drinker and the pub enthusiast. It is the only
organisation that monitors what is going on in our pubs and just as importantly,
what is happening at the brewing end of the business. All this is done for the
benefit of the customer because at the end of the day, CAMRA members are customers
too.
Currently, CAMRA is campaigning for a full measure when you buy a pint of beer.
We want to see customers get 20 fluid ounces of liquid in a pint - as happens
with milk for example – and not the 95% of a pint as is currently allowed.
Brewery scaremongering says that the price of a pint could rise by 17p. Perhaps
they've forgotten how long many of them have been ripping US off! If some breweries
increase their prices by a ridiculous amount, vote with your feet and leave those
pubs to customers daft enough to pay it.
Remember, this is just one of the issues affecting pub-goers that CAMRA is fighting
for. So if you have any comments or information regarding real ale or pubs in north
London, do not hesitate to contact the local branch.
Cheers, Mick Lewis
